Efforts are continuing around the Lake to get the word out : LAKE TEXOMA IS OPEN FOR FUN AND BUSINESS!!

The lake is back up to normal level, the early spring weather and fishing is great and zebra mussel sightings on boats are down considerably.

Recent Corps of Engineers Blue Green Algae (BGA) testing for cell counts/ml indicated that they were “capable of toxins” and continued lake Advisory levels for the main lake areas. Tests of the same water samples by the Grayson County Health Department for “measured toxins” indicated that BGA toxins were reportedly actually less toxic than some of the drinking water we drink.

 We all consider and take risks whether when we drive our cars, take prescription or over-the-counter medicines with pages of side effects, walk across the street or in the woods with possible poison ivy, at home with a bee, wasp or fire ant sting, or go boating and swimming. It helps to keep risks in perspective in our daily lives and recreation.

Grayson County, TX – The Grayson County Health Dept. agrees that there’s Blue Green Algae in the lake.  They say toxicity levels (1/10th of 1part per billion) aren’t high enough to harm people.  ”With the results we got in February, the public should have literally no concern about blue green algae in the month of March 2012″, explained, Dr. John Teel, Director of the Grayson County Health Department.  ”Nearly everything we consume, everything we breath, there are ultra trace levels, and they are not harmful, not at those levels”, Teel said.
